How does group chat work?
Your experience starts in a group chat where everyone is anonymous. Our algorithm pairs you with people (guests) based on your profile and stated preferences: gender identity, sexual orientation, age, etc., and whether you are looking for a friend or a romantic pairing (spark chat).
Who is a host and guest in the chat?
Prior to launching a chat, you have the option of joining as the host or guest. The host controls the chat and only has access to in-chat features: driftbot, launching games, etc. After a chat, only the host has the ability to reach out to a guest. After receiving an invite from the host, guests have access to the host's profile and have the option to share their profile with the host.
How does a spark chat work?
In a spark chat, the host is paired with up to three (3) anonymous guests that match the host's desired preferences. For example, one hetero female host with three hetero male guests or one bi-sexual male host is paired with a mix of sexually compatible females and males. Spark chats are limited to 30 minutes. The host can decide to end the chat before the 30-minute time limit.
How does a friend chat work?
In a friend group chat, the host is paired by default with a random mix of up to four (4) anonymous guests. In this instance, you have the option to set a filter for friend chats: sexual orientation, location, age, interests, etc. Friend chats are also limited to 30 minutes, the host has the option to extend the chat by an additional 30 minutes if everyone is having a great time and wants to hang out longer. Friend chats can also be ended by the host at anytime.
How do I see people's profiles?
As a host, you can reach out to any anonymous guest you save from a chat and invite them to your profile. If they accept your invitation, you'll have access to their profile. At that point, you both can initiate a private chat and start a budding new friendship (or something more)!
What is driftbot?
During a chat, the host can assign any persona to driftbot, an integrated AI chatbot. Taking on the persona, the bot participates in the group chat with quirky questions for comedic effect and to liven up the chat! Choose any iconic personality or fictional character you want: Harry Potter, Frankenstein, The Wolverine, or even Yoda from Star Wars!
